Scottish Food Guide

PRESS RELEASE Jan 18th 2005

Wendy Barrie's award winning Scottish Food Guide launches Scottish Farm Shops

Wendy Barrie starts 2005 with a new hub for A crusader for fresh local produce, Wendy has developed Scottish Farm Shops to highlight specialist businesses that retail on their farms. This compliments her now well-established guide to the best places to eat.

Like the very successful Scottish Cheese Trail, launched last year, Scottish Farm Shops features only the best. Scottish Food Guide and its hubs are wholly independently funded receiving no public monies. Winner last year of CIS Excellence Award for Tourism, the on-line guide receives over 1K individual requests daily, with interest worldwide.

Wendy said "Unique to Scotland is the eclectic mix of farms shops, each with marvellous locally produced goodies. From trout lochs to vegetables, free-range eggs to rare pig breeds, there is high quality produce available throughout Scotland - it's just knowing where to find it.

Many regularly attend farmers' markets, but why wait for a Saturday when they are open all year round?"

A selection of excellent farm shops are showcased, together with a handy interactive map: extending from the highlands & islands through the central belt and down to the borders. More will emerge as they come to Wendy's critical attention and the public are invited to e-mail their suggestions.

Scottish Food Guide will be appearing at Scotland's International Food Fair next week at Glasgow's SECC. is published by Wendy Barrie Ltd.
