This lovely organic micro dairy with shop follows Slow Food principles and creates a delicious range of cheeses, from soft fresh, through to blues and mature and washed rind cheeses. Set in the broad-leaved forest of Söderåsen in Skåne, they have a garden cafe in summer and also open in evenings with a small bistro in the old farm buildings. In the shop they also sell selected deli produce from small producers, their own preserves and wild garlic salt. They sell their own home baked sourdough, cheese plate from the dairy and home baking. Call to check opening times, particularly in autumn/winter.

Local handmade ice cream in a delicious range of flavours, all natural and as locally sourced as possible. Rasmus uses Skånsk milk and waffle cones from Döshult nearby. He makes classic scoop ice cream plus a softer piped whip that is also top class. Look out for his kiosks in town - this one is by the harbour - and for sale in discerning delicatessens.

She has fresh and mature cheeses to suit all tastes, all produced on their organic farm from their gorgeous goats! They also raise free range pigs for tasty pork on sale through their farm. Home produced fine cheese from neighbouring Jersey cows and their own goats. Lars is passionate about his cheeses - and his goats. Thanks to an excellent Slow Food Scania event I saw the creamery in action and these are very happy goats indeed! He even has a delightful spot for the 'retired' to enjoy their older years at their leisure. His cheeses are justly highly regarded across Sweden and beyond. Available at good delicatessens, restaurants and Malmo farmers' market. Now also with a lovely farm shop.

The Gårdsbutik Café has a super cheese counter, replenished daily from their own dairy. At Ängavallen the health and welfare of the animals is paramount so calves spend a great deal of time with their mothers, and traditional Röd Kulla cows produce rich creamy milk for cheesemaking. The whole process of calving, milking and grazing is done the natural way, to the highest standard and, of course, organically. The cheeses range from tubs of fresh white curds, through creamy white and yellow washed rounds, distinctive green mould wedges to larger mature tangy drums – all delicious. Ängavallen is quite unique and an asset to Skåne, in fact to Sweden. Rolf Axel Nordstöm has made this amazing place his life work and all the family are involved. He has two sons both working in the family business and I met his charming wife at the Gårdsbutik Café by the entrance gate to the Farm, Restaurant, Hotel and Conference Centre. They are justly proud of being totally organic and not only provide much employment in the area but invest time and energy in sharing best practice with others. High animal welfare standards, contented animals and natural homegrown produce and fodder are fundamental to their modus operandi. They have won many of the highest awards in all Sweden for their ground-breaking work and determination as it is not always simple to be a trailblazer.

This picturesque cheese stuga has only been trading a year and their cheeses are already well known for their high quality and range. There are mild and strong ones, soft and blue…something for everyone and really flavoursome. They are very helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. They also stock rather lovely wooden cheeseboards. It is well signposted from the main road and makes a delightful drive to the countryside. Although there is car parking by the cheese shop there is also is a larger car park nearby, adjacent to a lake where many had parked to enjoy the scenery and from where the cheese shop is a pleasant walk.
